The Creative Mental Health Series, #4: What I learned from surviving depression

I consider myself lucky for ever having experienced depression.

Because in that depression, and in fighting my way out of it, I became so self-preserving that there was no space to worry about what anyone else thought.

I had to give myself the ultimate act of self-love: getting truly honest about what I wanted and what made me happy instead of staying small for others. I thought I had been pretty immune to others opinion's in general, but depression took that from the small 0.5% it was at to TOTAL ZERO.

There was no space.
